Contents: Clopidogrel
Indications: to prevent serious or life-threatening problems with the heart and blood vessels in people who have had a stroke, heart attack, or sever chest pain
Dosage: Initial dose: Adults and Older people Clopidogrel should be given as a single dose of 75mg.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to the active substance, soya oil, peanut oil or to any of the excipients.
Severe hepatic impairment
Active pathological bleeding such as peptic ulcer or intracranial hemorrhage.
Special Precautions: Renal & Hepatic impairment. Therapeutic experience is limited in patients with renal impairment. Therapeutic experience is limited in patients with moderate hepatic disease who may have bleeding diatheses
Adverse Drug Reactions: Easy bleeding/bruising, stomach upset/pain, diarrhea, and constipation.
Drug Interactions: Hypoglycemic action potentiated by NSAIDs, azoles & other drugs that are highly protein bound eg salicylates, sulfonamides, chloramphenicol, probenecid, coumarins, MAOIs & β-adrenergic blocking agents. Hyperglycemic effects w/ thiazides & other diuretics, corticosteroids, phenothiazines, thyroid products, estrogens, OCs, phenytoin, nicotinic acid, sympathomimetics, Ca channel blockers & INH.
Pregnancy Category (US FDA): Category C: As no clinical data on exposure to clopidogrel during prengnancy are available, it is preferable not to use clopidogrel during pregnancy as a precautionary measure.

ATC Classification: B01AC04 - clopidogrel ; Belongs to the class of platelet aggregation inhibitors excluding heparin. Used in the treatment of thrombosis.
